Hayao Miyazaki. The man is a legend in the animation world.

He even has his own museum in his home town (which is also on my bucket list of things to do in Japan).

I don't know when or where my obsession with Japanese culture started, but I am definitely addicted. I read manga like I wish it was my job, and have a dying need to visit the country soon. At least once. I remember growing up and watching films like My Neighbour Totoro (still obsessed) which just grew when I realized he had more than that film.

Porco Rosso, Kiki's Delivery Service, Lupin the Third, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Nausicaa of the Winds, Princess Monoke, I've seen them all. Although I haven't gotten caught up on his latest movies.

I think it's been a bit of a blow to me that he's retired from creating more... It's so sad! I remember how ecstatic I feel every time he has a new one out.

I'm such a fan girl. While I was in Disneyworld, we were at the Japan part of Epcot - and there was all of this Miyazaki/Totoro stuff. I could not decide what I wanted to get. I ended up not getting anything of that stuff, mainly because it was expensive and breakable. So I'm going to have a gander online to find i a little bit cheaper (hopefully).

Another flow session with Briana from Canadian Macrobiotics!

This time I've changed it up a little bit. I've changed the editing to my video after I got some feedback, and the lovely Briana wrote about what we are doing for a more in depth look.

We start off with corpse pose (savasana), prepping our mind and breathing for the session. I like to use that time to think about my day, and then push it away to clear my mind to be free for whatever the yoga. We move into boat pose (naukasana/navasana). This pose helps stimulate digestive, muscular, circulatory, nervous, and hormonal systems. It also helps tone all your internal organs. Pretty much a well rounded pose (one that I struggle with, but should do more of!).

My back isn't such an issue anymore, but it does tighten up without the pain. So we did some rock n'roll (jhulana lurhakanasana), which helps massage the nerves and muscles of the back, butt and hips. We then moved into a sleeping abdominal stretch pose (supta udarkarshanasana) which stretches the abdominal muscles and organs, and the nerves and muscles in the spine. Another good back stretch is the cows face pose (gomukhasana) helping with backache, sciatica, and stiffness in the shoulders and neck. It's good for improving posture and induces relaxation!

After those, we tried a couple partner poses! These were fun to do, but not easy as it looked in the book. You can really see that I need to work on my balance and strength on my own before I'll be able to get pro with this stuff. Starting with the preparatory lord shiva pose (saral natrajasana). This pose strengthens the back, shoulders, arms, legs and hips. It also helps develop balance, coordination and concentration. Definitely need to work on this one!

We then jumped to the double angle pose (dwikonasana) to strengthen the muscles between the upper spine and the shoulder blades, and develop the chest and neck. We attempted to do a partner wheel pose (chakrasana) with our legs raised, but that wasn't going to happen. Even doing it alone is good for you! Strengthens the legs, and is beneficial to the nervous, digestive, cardiovascular, respiratory, and glandular systems.

We then ended it with a variation squat, or thunderbolt pose (vajrasana), to help stretch out the bottoms of our feet. This one is so beneficial to me since I suffer from cramping in my feet after wearing heels for any length of time.

Thanks Briana! I hope that this was informative for everyone, and check back in a couple weeks for another flow session! Don't forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel!

Garnier has a new makeup remover on the market!

This came at probably the best time for me, my current makeup remover is running a little low, so this will save me from running out and grabbing something again.

**Product has been provided by Garnier Canada, the opinions and language are my own, and in no way do they reflect Garnier Canada.

I've always liked Garnier products, although I did have a little bit of a run-in with their BB cream not mixing well with my cream at the time.

As always, my ultimate test for a makeup remover is how well it can take of Benefit's They're Real mascara. It's the hardest mascara for me to get off, and to me, if it can take that off, nothing else will stop it.

So without much further ado, my thoughts!

I put my makeup on at 3.30am for a 6.30 flight. After a day of flying, being in the sun, and staying up later than I should have, it was amazing to take of my makeup. I used the remover and it felt great on my skiN. It was easy to use, I squirted some on a cotton pad and wiped my eye gently. Then using my fingertips, I gently massaged the product on my eyelid and lashes. It removed all trace of my makeup and rinsed off completely.

This is definitely a product that I will use and repurchase again.

Diamonds. A girl's best friend right?

It seems to me everyone around me is getting engaged, married, or having kids. Just in this year I already know of 3 people to get engaged! I must just be at that age now.

I love to hear about engagements. I'm just hoping that one day it'll be me. Don't worry, I've already talked to Andrew about me wanting this to happen. He keeps telling me that it won't be this year because 2 of his friends have popped the question, and one is actually doing a short engagement.

It's frustrating, but there's nothing to stop a girl from looking at different styles of rings right? I'm definitely a girl who's a little bit classic, bigger doesn't always mean better, and I'd love to be able to customize my ring.

Enter Anjolee Jewelry. They have a huge selection of styles of rings, and of course other diamond jewelry. I love the fact that they allow customizations to their styles. First you pick the metal you want the band to be in, second you choose the carat weight. And last but not least you choose the diamond quality. The site is packed full of information to help you decide which is more important to you (quality or size, or both) to help you pick the perfect ring for you.

Another thing that important to me is where they get their diamonds from. They are all ethically sourced, and manufactured in a process that is environmentally friendly! Who doesn't love getting a ring while being able to cut down on your footprint on the Earth?

My Top 3 Choices are:

Number 1:

Inversions. Don't these seem like the ultimate yoga goal?

For me, they definitely are. But for me, something that is stopping me from getting there are my arms. They just aren't strong enough yet! My core is probably another one, but lets just deal with what is right in front of us, alright?

It'll probably be a couple months until I'm actually ready to get some inversions happening. Before I took my long, unexpected break, I was able to hold the position Crow (bakasana) for a good couple of breaths. But that is definitely in the past.

Here are some of the poses I'm doing daily to help get my arm strength back up, and some head prep ones to make my head and neck stronger too.

Downward Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana)
Four-Limbed Staff Pose (Chaturanga Dandasana)
Plank
Side Plank (Vasisthasana)
Wheel (Urdhva Dhanurasana)
Dolphin Pose
Using the wall for support

For a good reference point, I used the Yoga Journal's online resource. They have a great article on how to defy gravity to get into the handstand! I don't think I'm quite at that point yet either.

So let's go hit the mat and hold a couple downward dogs!

I love pampering myself. And doesn't it always feel like the grandest indulgence when you go and get your nails done?

I met up with the ladies on Saturday to have a girls day out at Her Majesty's Pleasure. We all got a variety of different services, but it was such a great way to spend a snowy Saturday.

I decided to drive down, as it was faster than dealing with public transit in the snow. I almost walked by it though, there isn't a big sign and while there are big windows, it looked more like a cafe than a spa. But my eye caught the sign, and I walked in.

The decor is on point in this place. While it's not ideally laid out, I cannot fault the calm look and feel of the place. Even though it's divided into separate sections, it didn't feel cramped due to the dividing walls being all windows.

Walking in, you immediately see the immaculate bar and cafe. Walking down the to the end is the concierge, where lovely ladies are more than willing to help you get signed in, and ready for your appointment.

If you're there for a mani/pedi, then you get to pick a lovely colour from their wall of polishes. Almost too much choice! I didn't pick a colour from the wall, as I was getting a gel manicure, but using the wall I was able to decide what spectrum of colour I was aiming for. I knew that I wanted dark this time around, and was not disappointed. When it was time for my appointment, my manicurist came over and introduced herself. I had picked a colour off the main wall, not knowing that I couldn't choose from there, but she looked at the colour and helped me pick the colour from the gel selection.

We ended up layering 2 colours for my final look. She brought me over to the bar and got down to business. She asked if I wanted anything from the cafe, and called the bartenders/waiters over to take my order. I got a hot chocolate, which was rather decadent and delish. It was a little difficult to drink while getting my nails done, but definitely doable.

I didn't order anything alcoholic, but they all looked so tasty! The bartender came over to help some other ladies, and asked what they wanted, and they would make something to suit that taste for them. Sweet or sour? They said sweet and bubbly, and he came back with the most delicious pink looking concoction. Made me want to have one for sure! It also helped that he was quite cute, which is always a plus?

What do you think of the concept? I think it's rather innovative, and such a clean space. Definitely will go back for a group thing again!

What a winter this one has been, am I right, ladies?

I definitely thought that it wouldn't be that bad, especially since we didn't see any real snow until January. But that was not to last.

These past couple weeks we've gotten blasted with crazy wind chills and snow storms. I don't know about you, but my skin is definitely struggling with all this dry weather! Like my skin needs more of an excuse to be flaky and gross.

While my whole body dislikes being dry, there are definitely areas that I need to pay more attention too: Hands and lips. Nothing shows dry skin to the public faster than these two places! So unattractive.

My top 5 products for preventing winter dry skin are:

I feel like I haven't posted about my actual life in a little bit.

And mainly.. some things have happened and I wasn't sure if I was up to posting about it. Or even if I wanted to post about it. Something's don't have to go online.

Things around here have been a little.. lack-luster (for lack of a better word). I had a little bit of a break down a couple weeks ago, the kind that had me in tears, and thinking that Andrew was going to break up with me [sn: we didn't, just a little misunderstanding!]. We had a long/short conversation about how I was feeling, and what brought on this most recent quarter life crisis.

I couldn't quite explain to him why I was feeling so unsatisfied with how my life was going. He kept saying that it seemed like I was holding myself up to someone in particular. And there isn't just one person, it's more the whole. I'm constantly plugged in: Social media, blog reading, it adds up. And it turns into a giant entity that you can compare yourself too.

Yes, I know. Comparison is the thief of joy. I've written about it here before. But this time it was different. It kind of snuck up on me. Just scrolling through the endless pictures on Instagram, you see them, might not really absorb them, but they stay in your subconscious. That's why I'm suddenly hankering for some over the knee boots, and blazers. And how my wardrobe just isn't good enough anymore.

I think it really boils down to not really knowing what I want with my life. Too much choice in this world. So many bloggers around have been talking about this - maybe it has something to do with Mercury going into retrograde (again).
As most of you might have guessed, I am a huge supporter of the arts - Ballet in particular. So when I saw the email that the newest season was announced, I could barely contain my excitement. I immediately tweeted about it, and read the media release about it.

This coming season is full of ballets that I haven't seen yet, and that are new to the stage (with the exception of Romeo and Juliet - but I haven't seen this one yet).

The Winter's Tale November 14 - 22, 2015

I think I'm most excited for Le Petit Prince. Besides the fact that it's Guillaume Cote's first full length ballet, it will also be interesting to see the novella adapted to ballet form!

Although, Giselle and A Winter's Tale are coming close behind that. I'm actually leaning towards getting a subscription this year.. for all six of them! Individual tickets aren't on sale yet, but subscriptions are! You can find out about them here. I can't wait to see them. Is it blasphemy to say I hope that November gets here faster?

Wet N'Wild. A brand that has been around since 1979 - but I've never really looked into.

Somehow, whenever I thought or looked at Wet N'Wild, since it's a value brand at Wal-Mart, I never thought it was something for teens.

Let's be honest, since I started working and creating an income I've been drawn to the higher end brands (why hello Sephora) but I received the Wet N'Wild Wild Shine nail colour in Burgundy Frost to sample it and while I shouldn't have been surprised, I was. They've recently updated their look and brand: All Access Beauty. Making beauty readily available to every woman, and with it they've updated my thinking on their products.

I genuinely enjoyed this product. I was impressed with how rich the colour is, and how nice and smooth it was to apply.

This was after one coat! The opacity was perfect. And only having to apply one coat? Love how much time that saves me. I did one hand with a top coat, and one hand without. Partially because I'm lazy, and partially because I want to see how the colour lasts with or without a top coat.

The one thing that kind of threw me was the length of the brush. It didn't affect anything, but it just was longer than I seemed to be used to. A little thing to get used to, but nothing to outrageous that it makes it a deal breaker. Is that something weird to be thrown off by? But the brush was really easy to control, and I was able to not make a huge mess of my right hand.

Definitely a brand that I will be repurchasing, and especially because it's brand that is readily available, and a value brand. I believe that these are offered for $1.99* [Updated] each. Will this be something you'll be putting into your basket?

Renovating, even simply moving furniture around, makes me so happy. It's almost a little sad, but I love it.

Lucky for Andrew and I, we live in an apartment that we rent, but his parents own, so are fine with us making more personal tweaks to it (especially since Andrew can easily put it back to normal). And most of the tweaks that we are slowly doing are eventually going to add value to the apartment when we move out. Win-Win.

After our vacation to Europe, Andrew was feeling adventurous and decided that we needed a pot light over the kitchen sink. So he cut a hole in our ceiling, and there that hole sat for a good 3 months. Until last month he finally put it together. He did have to ruin the tile a little bit, but who cares! We have an amazing working light, and it's perfect. How did we live without one?

Another handyman reno that we're doing is taking down this little half-wall that separates the kitchen and living room. It's rather useless, and will help open up the room even more. We still haven't completed taking down the entire thing, but it's getting there? I was hoping that we'd get to it this weekend, but so far no dice.

Another [huge] thing that finally got done was putting up a space in the office for me! Even though I got the smaller desk *cough* but with the black plywood along the back I can at least get some space in which I can spread my papers out. I'm definitely one of those people who like to spread my mess around. So perhaps having a huge work space isn't the best for me after all... I'll have to post pictures later... It's not clean enough for my liking yet!

What do you think of the changes that are occurring around my place? If there was something that you could change about your place, what would it be?

Sometimes, in the winter, there's nothing better than warm hug in a bowl. For me, that's anything with potatoes.

I had most of the ingredients in my fridge already, I just needed to pick up onions since I had used up the bag that I had. Gotta love actually cooking with things on hand, and using them up before they go bad!

I love this because it's pretty much a one pot recipe. Yes, I used 3, but that's because I was also serving this with rice and broccoli. Those can't be in the same pot (or at least I can't have them in the same pot. Maybe one day.)

I unfortunately didn't take a picture of the whole thing finished. Because I was just to hungry and it looked to darn good!

Curry Chicken Recipe:

4 Chicken Thighs
4 Chicken Drumsticks
Salt
Pepper
Vegetable Oil
2 Onions
4 Potatoes
2tbsp Curry Powder
Corn Starch *if needed

I cut up the potatoes and onions first, because I like to pre-boil the potatoes. This helps get rid of excess starch, and then it doesn't take quite as long in the actual pan. Don't let them get too soft though, otherwise they'll disappear in the mix.

Preheat a pan on medium-high that is deep enough to hold all of your ingredients. Add some vegetable oil, and while you're waiting for it to heat up remove the skin from your chicken. I used two different kinds of chicken because I like variety, but feel free to use whatever you have on hand. Once the pan is heated, throw your chicken in to brown.

Once it's browned on the outsides, throw in your onions, potatoes, curry powder and add enough water to cover everything. Cover with a lid and let it bubble away (roughly 30 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through).

I always add a little bit of corn starch to thicken up the broth. This recipe is also so, so much better the longer it can sit and mingle on low. This actually would be a great one in a slow-cooker.

Rice and Broccoli:

Cook your rice as instructed on the package.

I chop up my broccoli into bite size pieces, flash boil, and serve with butter and pepper. Quick and easy!

Serve all together, add some tortilla if you prefer as well. Delish!

My good friend, Briana at Canadian Macrobiotics, who is also a registered yoga teacher, decided to hop on the mat and get a good flow going.

Her new apartment has space for more than one person to do yoga at a time, so I definitely took advantage of getting together for tea and lunch with the added benefit of getting in some yoga.

Check out the video for the flows that we went through! Also, come back next week for our 2nd flow that has a bit more partner stuff!
Valentine's Day! Like I said, rebels that we are, Andrew and I celebrated last night instead.

It was too cute. He jumped in the bedroom at 7 wishing me a Happy Valentine's day, and I even got a cat massage at the same time. Love my two boys. Even though I really didn't want to be up yet, but I had to get up to get ready for school.

A normal day otherwise, I was really looking forward to going out! We were going to have a lovely romantic dinner at the Keg. We rarely ever buy steak to make at home, so when we do go out, that's usually what we splurge on.

When I got home, Andrew was already there, busily making phone calls before we were ready to leave. And what was sitting on my desk for me? Such a lovely bouquet of flowers! This boy, when he wants to romance it up, he can. And he knows my obsession with all things cards so he also had one of those tucked among the flowers.

Then it was time to head to the Keg. We didn't make a reservation, but we only had about a 10 minute wait for a table. We decided to grab an appetizer (I hadn't really eaten anything all day, running around too much!) the baked brie with crostini. Oh. My. Gawd. I love brie, and this was delicious. It was the perfect size for 2 people, and the jelly and pesto was amazing. So many yums. Our waiter was extremely nice, and brought us extra bread and butter as well, so the last piece of brie was shoved onto a piece of bread.

Then our mains came. Oh mama. We both went with the Sirloin Oscar - top sirloin steak topped with scallops and shrimp, and for me a twice baked potato. Melt in your mouth amazing. Just thinking about it again is making me hungry!

And! Shock of all shocks, I got Andrew to take a picture of my outfit. Could this be the start of something? I always feel so incredibly awkward when taking pictures in public, maybe that's something I need to work on this year! Vlogging and being more comfortable in front of the camera. I'm also sorry about the quality of the picture. This was taken with my phone, and it was dark - in the hallway and outside. Darn you winter! I did use the same makeup scheme from my beauty post this week, find that here!

dress: French Connection; shoes: Michael Kors; leggings: Topshop; bag: Coach

Now that Valentine's Day is actually tomorrow, what are you up too? It's kind of a relief that I'm done celebrating and stuff, no more planning for anything! Have a great weekend and Valentine's!

Sooo.. this one was going to be my very first vlog.

But my video was terrible. So I'm going to have to pass on posting that one. But it will come! I just need way better lighting, and perhaps no boyfriend in the background.

So, without further ado, just a written post about getting ready for Valentine's Day.

Due to the terrible lighting, you can't really see my makeup. Which is crappy, but I decided to do a night look.

I use the Rimmel BB Cream mixed with Ours 24hr face cream to create a tinted moisturizer. I'm lazy, and probably terrible, but I apply it like cream - just rubbing it all over my face to blend it in. To set it, I use CoverGirl's Ready, Set, Gorgeous in light to take away the shine, have it stay all day!

Normally I don't fill in my brows for every day wear, so I fill them in with MAC Satin Eye Shadow in Mystery. Then, I set those bad boys with Benefit's Gimme Brow in Medium/Deep. Brows, done!

Now up, the eyes. I use Eyeko's Skinny Liquid Liner for the perfect cat eye. Although, in the video it's super squiggly. I didn't realize how terrible my eyesight is in the dark! Whoops. Note to self: Find a mirror as well. Although, with my skin type, I find that I need to use Urban Decay's Naked Palette eye shadow to help set it. I use Naked as my base, then Sidecar as the next layer, and Half Baked as my final crease colour. Then to finish the look, I curl my lashes and apply a layer of Benefit's They're Real mascara. Eyes, Done!

For some shape, I apply Seventeen's Stamp Blusher to my cheeks and blend with a blush brush. It can look a little clown-ish if you don't blend.

For the final touch that pulls the look together, Wet N'Wild MegaSlicks Balm Stain in Redioactive*. I absolutely love this colour, it's the perfect red for my skin tone. It also stains quite nicely, so a little goes a long way, and lasts quite a while (even with eating and drinking). This was my first introduction to Wet N'Wild lipsticks/makeup, and I am definitely pleased with the colour punch, and the moisturizing feel. Will definitely add this brand to my list!
*This product was sent to me complimentary, all opinions are my own!

Andrew and I are actually going out on Thursday for Valentine's, so I'll get him to take a picture of me on that day! Here's to getting better at vlogging, and I'll probably have this one up again. It's a pretty standard way of doing my make-up. I actually enjoyed the act of video-taping myself. Go figure!

Happy Valentine's day, lovelies!!
Last week I posted about things to do when you're single on Valentine's Day, but what are great date ideas when you're in a relationship?

Andrew and I have been dating for almost 4 years. This is our 3rd Valentine's Day together. That doesn't seem like that many, in the grand scheme of life, but we also live together, and are trying to save money to eventually buy a house.

Unfortunately, that means that we are being extra careful with our money, and sometimes means that fancy extravagant shows of love might not be feasible.
But that doesn't mean that we can't do something romantic. Being the rebels that we are, Andrew recieved a giftcard to go to The Keg, a steakhouse restaurant. So we're going to use that and go out for a date night on the Friday night.

Not exactly Valentine's but at least it won't be crowded! I have an aversion to spending time in crowds when I don't have too.

But what else can you do if you don't have the bonus of a gift card? Here's some ideas to surprise your better half!

Plan out a dinner that the two of you can make at home. Andrew and I both love mussels, but these tend to be something that we seem to have on special occasions. So this year we're going to have another seafood night, throw together a pot of mussels and other seafoods, and chow down. It'll be great to spend the time in the kitchen together without the pressure of rushing to get food in us before we have to go to bed and get up for work.
Find something free around your city. Toronto is great for this stuff! Enjoy skating? There are free skating rinks all around the city. Saturday night at the Harbourfront is DJ Skate NIght! It'll be packed, but it's free and fun skating with music. Even just going for a walk through the snow along the lake, or through the city would be amazing.
Plan a sexy night in. Cooking not your forte, and really can't get up to brave the cold? Never fear. I'm sure that there is plenty that can still be done at home. Build a pillow fort, and spend the night under covers telling each other stories about your dreams.
Disconnect from the world and reconnect with each other. I think that this one might be the most important. Andrew's work requires him to always be on the phone. His phone is pretty much always ringing. Take that time to turn them off, get off social media, and just be with each other. You don't have to talk, sometimes not being distracted is just what the doctor ordered.

Sometimes we get so caught up in the banal day to day stuff. The days fly by so quickly now, it's just crazy.Take some time this weekend to get back to basics with your loved one!

Drinks? On a Tuesday? Unheard of for me!

Last week, a bunch of the girls and I went out for drinks and some food to see Maurissa off on her new journey to Calgary. It was a "Come Back Soon" party, since she still plans on visiting often! Love these girls, they are always so full of fun and inspiring conversations! The night was spent in laughter, and even though we haven't known each other long, we definitely have forged some strong bonds.

The Drake 150, which opened in summer 2013, has become a staple in the financial district of Toronto. With its stunning decor, and delicious menu, it's definitely a place to hit. And I had never heard of it before last week.

Easily accessible, I took the streetcar (brr), and walked from Queen down to Adelaide, on York St. A quick walk, and I was in the door. Greeted by two lovely hostesses, who offered coat check, she walked me to my table. The vibe of the place is really nice. It's loud, but not overbearingly so. We could still hear each other at the table. A lot of business men having a drink after work, for sure.

The food is so good. It's definitely more creative than your run of the mill restaurant (like Jack Astor's, etc), with items like Boar Bolognese, oysters, and lobster. I had already eaten my main dinner at home, so I picked up a little appetizer, the Drake + Bake. Just some bread and spreads. So good though. Warm bread, eggplant ragu... Walnut crisp crackers. Yum!

The night ended with an exciting offer of shots from the table across the way, to help mend a broken heart of the guy who's girlfriend had just left. By all means, lead the way! So it was a great way to meet some nice people, and wrap up an evening.

While the night seemed to end too soon, but still was up too late, I jumped into bed and snoozed away until I realized I had to work in the morning.

I've completely changed my skin routine.

Well, not completely. I've just made some adjustments and actually have hunkered down and committed to it now.

I've washed my face every morning. I've taken off all my makeup at night. I've reworked the way that I use my Body Shop Chamomile Butter (aka so much better and effective - it's taking off all of Benefit's They're Real mascara). And I've changed the way I do makeup in the morning.

All because I had a (not-so-genius) eureka moment. I had been using Cheryl Hickey's Ours face cream for a couple months now, and it just wasn't doing it for me. It just didn't have enough to keep my face moisturized during the day, and my make up would look flaky immediately after putting it on. Sexy.

But I wasn't ready to give up on it yet. Although it wasn't enough for my desert-like skin, it was a great product. It didn't react with my skin, didn't aggravate it, and it's free of all those nasty toxins and chemicals. So what could I do? A-ha! Mix it with my BB cream!

I know, I know, I'm such a genius! This seems to be the perfect fix. This cream is light enough that it doesn't really dilute any of the coverage, but just makes the BB cream even smoother too apply. New favourite love. AND I think the best part is that I just combined 2 steps in my morning routine, making it that much faster! All praise shortcuts!

Now that I've made this little shortcut, I definitely will be repurchasing the Ours face cream again, and I'm definitely interested in trying out more of her line. Have you tried anything by her?

Love is in the air! Everything is coming up roses! It's the month of l'amour!

And you, my dear, are single. But don't despair! You might be newly single, or single for awhile, or single by choice. Either way, you probably have mixed feelings on the day of Love that is approaching quickly. Are you in the love it or hate it camp?

If you're in the love it camp, well than this post you can do without. But if you're in the hate it camp, read on!

I am and always will be an avid supporter of self love. And on the day filled with the most love everywhere (you cannot get away from it), you should definitely show yourself some love.

Things to do if you're celebrating Valentine's Day solo:

Grab your girlfriends and have a date night in. Watch rom-coms (or horror...depending on your mood) and chat the night away. It'll be morning on the 15th before you know it, and you'll have spent it with ladies you love.
Buy yourself flowers. This has always been portrayed as self-pitying in movies, but flowers make you smile! Go out and grab a huge bouquet to bring home to brighten up your kitchen or bedroom.
Have a spa night. Nothing is better than taking some time for yourself and doing more than the bare necesities in the shower. Fill a bath, throw a bomb in it, and soak. Have a glass of wine (or your choice of poison), and a good book. Put a mask on your hair, your face.. and just chill.

Or, if anything, pretend that it's not Valentine's Day, and just binge-watch Netflix before going to bed early. Beauty rest is key!

What are you doing for Valentine's Day? Let me know in the comments!

I was trying to emulate my dad's amazing fried rice, and I didn't really come close. His is still so, so much better.

I'm going to have to watch how he does it one day, but for now, here's what I did!

Eggy Fried Rice

Ingredients:

Rice

Garlic

Green Pepper

Onion

Mushrooms

Olive Oil

Soya sauce

2 eggs

Shrimp

So because this isn't from a cookbook, I don't have exact measurements. Typically, I follow the instructions on the rice package and cook accordingly. Fried rice needs to be cooked with cold rice, so stick it in the fridge to cool down.

Cut up the vegetables into thin strips, dice up the garlic, and throw it in a wok with some oil. After they've softened nicely, throw in your rice, add some soya sauce. Stir it around, let it fry up. Make a hole in the centre of your rice, and crack the egg in. Stir that around and then throw in your shrimp.

Once it's all nice and brown and cooked through, grab a fry pan and fry up the second egg. Add that on top, and serve!

Enjoy!

This week's pose: Dolphin pose!

I'm not sure what my obsession with this pose is, but I love it. I'm all about getting ready to do inversions (hand/head stands, etc), and I feel like this is at least a step in that direction.

Now, for a bit due to my back, this pose wasn't comfortable. It's still not a pose that I can just jump right into. I do need to do a couple flows to get the muscles warm before doing it. That doesn't stop me from loving it though!

Occasionally, I do have to do a modified version of the pose, just because I'm not strong enough in my core to hold it for long enough, or support my back enough.

It's almost like I'm doing these all the time now!

Although, definitely got to slow it down. These bad boys add up! But they are just so much fun to do.

This time around, the ladies and I met up at the Park Hyatt for tea service. I love how every tea is slightly different in what they offer for nibbles and tea selections. Maybe the next time I'll branch out and not get a black tea.

The Park Hyatt had a nice layout, and the staff was extremely friendly. A good selection of tea, but it was hard to choose just from a description. I chose a basic black tea, pretty much an English Breakfast tea. It was good, although I find that my tea gets too cool to fast! It also was a loose leaf tea, but the strainers didn't really do a great job, so you did have some leaves floating in your tea.

The nibbles were delicious, although harder to eat than at the Ritz. I actually didn't finish everything on my plate because I wasn't such a fan, and I decided to save myself for the cake portion. Even not finishing everything, I was still bringing home the majority of the treats in a takeaway.

Overall, it was good. It wasn't anything to rave about though, especially having something to compare it too. For the price ($39.00+tax/tip), I think that there are definitely better places to try. I left to many things uneaten, unlike at the Ritz.

I don't think that I would be back to the Park Hyatt for tea, unless they had a special event happening. I am more apt to try others though, before making my final decision. So far, the Ritz has number 1 locked down!

Do you agree with me, or not? Let me know!

Nothing more exciting than standing in the cosmetic section and just browsing all the new lines and products that came out while you were still using the same old thing.

I have been an avid used of Revlon's face powder, but when I went to the store I decided to switch it up. I've repurchased the Revlon one twice, so it was time to try something new.

So. Many. Brands. I finally rested on the CoverGirl Ready Set Gorgeous line, as I really liked the aesthetic look of it. It also had the most product for the same price as the others I was comparing. Oh yes, I am becoming that girl.

Overall I'm enjoying the product. It definitely helps prevents shine, and does set my base layer (if I choose to wear one). The only downfall for me is the actual shape of the product in the case... It doesn't make for easy application to my brush, as it's not that big. Or round.

I like the product, and I would definitely repurchase. I would also branch into the rest of the line to try and see how it holds up!
Have you tried this line? What did you think of it?
